Secret Studio

Coastline · v2.0

Search for a coastal town. Select the right result before applying; town centres can be inland from the beach. Only coastlines with available marine data are supported.

Current coast: Formby Beach, United Kingdom

Marine sea levels are modeled, not local tide-gauge measurements. Selecting a coastal town may place the model inland of the exact beach; verify the location.

Actual lunar phase

Choosing a moon phase temporarily sets the Studio time to 22:00 at the selected coast so you can see it. Return to Live restores the real Moon.

Wave style changes how the tide is drawn, never the underlying tide predictions. Saved on this device.

Weather Atelier · precipitation

Fine-tune the art of falling weather. These controls affect appearance, not the forecast. Day/night ink adapts automatically.

Cloud Atelier · living sky

Soft, layered cloud atmosphere. Wind naturally carries the clouds; these controls affect only the artwork, not the forecast.

v7 · Living Reflections

Experimental, optional light on the sea. Your clouds and tidal geometry remain unchanged.

Night Sky · Starlight

Quiet stars visible only after dusk. Moving clouds conceal them naturally; an occasional star slowly twinkles.

Wet Paint Signature

A quiet oil-paint signature in the lower-left water. Changes when you change coast; saved on this device.

Future ideas · not yet built

v3 · Continuous living clouds (mooted). Clouds evolve and flow naturally through live weather updates, without visibly restarting.

v4 · Oil-painted sea (mooted). Experiment with tactile painted texture and light reflected on the water, while protecting the existing artwork.

v5 · Shoreline distance (mooted). Estimate the distance from the waterline to a defined dune reference at places like Formby, using validated coastal elevation profiles and matching tide data. Explore a dune-approach indicator, a subtle crest-tip tint, or a separate shoreline-distance contour. Research first; no figures or visual changes until the data is trustworthy.

12:00

Changing the date, time, or weather selector switches into simulation mode automatically. Return to Live restores local coastal time, tides, sunrise/sunset, and weather.

Living Weather: the artwork can respond to cloud cover, fog, rain, snow, wind and thunderstorms. Hail is intentionally not singled out unless the source data clearly distinguishes it.

Hour rings: centre = now. Each ring step ≈ one hour. Left = previous 12 hours. Right = next 12 hours.
